Privacy Policy

How ELUMMA handles your information.

ELUMMA collects the minimum information needed to operate the service and help you with end-of-life planning, legal, funeral, estate and post-death guidance. ELUMMA is now live, and this policy explains how your information is handled.

Never enter passwords, PINs or authentication codes. This includes bank passwords, PINs, myGov passwords, email passwords, superannuation passwords, security answers or one-time codes. ELUMMA does not need these to help you.

1. Information we collect

ELUMMA collects the minimum information needed to operate the service. If you create an account, this includes the details you provide to register (such as an email address) and information you choose to save while using ELUMMA. You can use most public guidance without an account. Information may also be collected through normal website operation, such as basic technical information that helps the service run.

2. Information you choose to save

If you have an account, you may choose to save information such as:

  • your state or territory preference
  • checklist and journey progress
  • planning-ahead information
  • saved items and documents
  • estate-planning information

You do not have to save information to use ELUMMA, and you can manage or remove it using the controls available in your account.

You may also choose to store private documents, Legacy information, photos, audio, video and personal messages in your ELUMMA account. These features use access controls and short-lived secure access links. ELUMMA uses service providers and hosting infrastructure to operate these features, and does not claim that your data is stored in Australia. While access controls and security measures are used, no online service can promise absolute security.

Your private documents and Legacy information are not used for advertising, affiliate targeting or partner recommendations.

3. How ELUMMA uses information

ELUMMA uses information to provide, personalise and improve the service, to remember your preferences and progress where you allow it, and to operate your account. Saved information may be used to provide and personalise your ELUMMA experience. ELUMMA does not use sensitive grief information for advertising.

4. Ask ELUMMA

Questions you ask through Ask ELUMMA may be logged to improve the service and for admin review. Please avoid entering unnecessary sensitive personal information into your questions. Ask ELUMMA is a general guidance tool and is not a substitute for professional advice.

5. Advertising and commercial content

Commercial or sponsored content is kept separate from ELUMMA's independent guidance. ELUMMA does not use sensitive grief information to determine advertising. Your private documents, Legacy information and other private storage are never used for advertising, affiliate targeting, partner recommendations or commercial ranking. If you click an external commercial link, you will be taken to another organisation whose own privacy policy applies. ELUMMA's privacy policy does not cover other organisations' websites or services.

6. Service providers and hosting

ELUMMA may use service providers that help operate the website, account system, hosting and related technical services. Information may be processed by those providers as needed to provide the service. ELUMMA does not share your information for unrelated purposes.

7. Keeping information safe

ELUMMA takes reasonable steps to protect information, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. This is why it is important to avoid entering passwords, PINs, authentication codes or other credentials, and to keep sensitive details out of Ask ELUMMA questions unless necessary.

8. Your choices and removing your private data

You can manage or remove information using the controls available in ELUMMA. You can permanently remove your private ELUMMA planning and storage data yourself at any time through My Account → Privacy & my data. This removes your private Legacy items, Document Vault records, Trusted Access permissions, trusted people, checklists, budgets, saved items and estate-planning records from ELUMMA access.

If you have private uploaded files, ELUMMA will remove access to them. Where the storage platform does not provide ELUMMA with a verified immediate file-deletion method, the underlying file may remain in protected storage or backups for a period of time. This action does not delete your ELUMMA sign-in account. For full deletion of your ELUMMA sign-in account or other privacy requests not covered by the in-app controls, contact ELUMMA through the feedback/support form.

9. Links to other websites

ELUMMA links to official and third-party websites for your convenience. Those websites have their own privacy policies. ELUMMA is not responsible for how other organisations handle your information once you leave ELUMMA.

10. Changes to this policy

ELUMMA may update this privacy policy from time to time. When material changes are made, the updated policy will be available on this page. Continued use of ELUMMA after a change means you accept the updated policy.

11. Contact ELUMMA about privacy

If you have a question about this privacy policy, or you want to request full deletion of your ELUMMA sign-in account or other personal information not covered by the in-app controls in My Account, contact ELUMMA through the feedback/support form.
